FOX News: Michelle Obama: Angry Black women
Barack and Michelle Obama fist bump (or terrorist jab?)
Fortunately, I heard she was fired immediately for the terrorist comment. Unfortunately, this will surely ensue for the duration of the campaign. How can you hate on my heart, Michelle Obama. I wish death to Fox NewsShare

INSA "Wants and Needs" Exhibit in London

What I love about this exhibit is INSA's ability to navigate the relationship between art, consumerism, and fetishism. I feel we are so sexually perverse, that we revere sexual art merely to satisfy our sexual impulses. Side note, I bet you someone ran into the wall trying to go see the painting of the breasts (Technically, if someone did do that then it would 100% prove the artist's vision).
The Artist's Vision:
“My aim is to create beautiful objects of desire in order to explore the relationship between sex, commodity and art. I want to show how our need for products, material objects and even artworks themselves can be confused with our wants and sexual desire.”

Shaq Freestyle
At first I was somewhat applauding this embarrassing moment until he says, "That's like a white boy trying to be more nigger than me." Since Shaq pissed me off with that comment I have to diss with an Aries Spears Shaq impression:
Side note: My boy Doug looks like Aries Spears.Share
O.G.'s need to be mentors not abusers
The best part is when he starts mocking the chorus from "Colors."Share
Big Things Poppin - Bambu Album Preview (I'm on it!)
Nick James Music News:
I made it on Bambu's (of Native Guns) new album, "Spare Change." I'm pretty sure I got the intro song titled, "Exact Change," and another, "Crooks and Rooks." "Crooks and Rooks" is featured in the promotional video above. And Bam, we have to get Crooks and Castles to sponsor us they can't resist this song.
Peace.Share
Exclusive: Nas Remix (I did it for him. Record time!)
P.S. What's dope about this remix is that I found a Nas song that was the same beats per minute as the video below.

Nas - U Gotta Love It (Nick James Remix)
I know he won't do it
When I saw this months ago I was juiced because I knew it was gonna be on his new album, but after hearing new tracks from Nas with these lyrics I know it won't be. I think Nas is the perfect rapper to rock this beat. Him or Jay-Z (even Lupe) would kill this sample. After Mary J. Blidge used the Roy Ayers, "Everybody likes the Sunshine" sample for her song "My Life," on the album of the same name, Hiphop heads have veered from it because she turned it into an R&B classic. Now is the time to bring it back so I can knock it when I speed down 580 or highway 13 on a hot summer day.
P.S. If I get impatient I will sample it and throw an old Nas song on it (probably from I Am because I just got the whole acapella album). And yes, you can download it here.Share
tabi BONNEY
Several of my friends do not know why I like D.C. rap artist Tabi Bonney. One: he's a biology teacher turned rapper, two: he has an unapologetic cockiness towards his own music, and three: it's comedy. His music is lighthearted and he's not going to act tough or front. His rhymes remind me of when you first start out rapping and your scared to be vulgar so you rap about how cool your jeans are (something like that). He's like Jack Black, you question his craft from time to time but you keep watching.
P.S. Chris Mueller, you know you want to partner with Tabi's clothing company, Bonney Runway (www.bonneyrunway.com).

Tabi Bonney - On It (This beat is actually pretty tight.)

The "Doug"

For those who don't know my Boy Terrell aka "Doug" you have to meet him soon in order to see his dance moves. One word, Legendary. Catch him this Friday or Saturday at a plethora of night clubs, he's an animal. Oh and that's not the Black Ranger that's Doug of course, circa 1992.
Sorry Everybody
As you can tell my photoshop game has come into being. I do all my album artwork, blog graphics, etc. This post is to let the handful of people that emailed me, text me, and hit me up on myspace congratulating me for getting the cover of Fader. I'm sorry y'all, not yet. This only means one of two things, (1) I have great photoshop skills or, (2) my beats are good enough for people to assume I deserve the cover of Fader? I'm gonna have to go with number two. I've made it!
Plus if you look closely Wesley Mapes and Chris Mueller are featured. Whats the odds of that happening?Share
Much Love to Hill Harper but Come On

This is the cover for actor Hill Harper's new book, Letters to a Young Sister. I love how they are so excited to be in the picture. Hill has done a ton of movies but we all know we can only remember him from Get On the Bus. Those girls have no idea who he is. Plus the girl on the left can only be 1/4 Black, if that. I bet he had to have a white girl on there in order for his publishing company to release the project. And don't forget to check out the Gabrielle Union foreward (What!?). My new book comes out in a couple months, "Solace for Soccer Moms," and the cover is gonna be me cracking jokes to middle aged white women in the back of a Prius. I will not be one upped by Hill Harper. Peace.Share
Exclusive: Black Spade (The Nick James Remixes)

Big ups to Tania Cuevas for making this project possible. Tania put me on to Black Spade about three months ago and while in the car she says, "I really think you can remix someone like him. I can make it happen." I said, "Dope." The rest is history. I went to one of Tania's Ear Hustle events where I got a chance to meet Jonathan who works for Om Hip Hop and had access to the acapellas. I gave him one of the oldest external hard drives known to humans. My ex-girlfriend gave it to me about 4 1/2 years ago and it's only 100 GB. Now 100 GB external hard drives are the size of my pinky. Anyway, he took the device, placed pro tools sessions on it and I went to work. Oh, and big ups to DJ Phatrick for extracting the vocals from pro tools. I needed that fam, can u believe I don't have an inbox? I present to you my renditions of Black Spade's music.

This remix is triumphant. No Hip Hop fan should resist this. This is my best DJ Premiere/9th Wonder impression. Of course I give it the Nick James flare so it's an improvisation not an imitation of the mentioned producers. Enjoy.

'Evil Love' was by far the hardest of the three to remix. The original isn't quantized (in short that means it's offbeat) and I rarely create unquantized notes. Sometimes I won't quantize the drums, snare, or hi hats to create a swing but I don't think I've ever arranged synths that way. The original is funky so I wanted to give it a different feel a mellow feel because at times he goes into spoken word and with the original the words can be lost in the colorful production. Since he sang according to the unquantized beat, I was forced to find a way to make it work. Thus, the drum arrangement is the closest element of my arrangement to the original.
This song is cool to wake up to, do Sunday chores to, smoke weed with a black light, or you can even have this playing when you need to breakup with your significant other.
Part 1I originally put Lauryn Hill's 'Lost One' to this beat but had issues getting the timing right. It didn't sound bad but it wasn't perfect. The remix was supposed to be on another mixtape that got scrapped. Since I had this beat laying around I decided to try Black Spade's 'Revolutionary Bullshit' to it. Technically this should be Revolutionary Bullshit Part 2 because I made the one below first, but I liked this one better because the feel it provides. I feel it provides depth to certain lyrics and even enhances the Angela Davis sound bite after the first verse.
Part 2
So Jonathan from Om Hip Hop gave me three songs to remix and I ended remixing 'Enjoy the Experience' three times and 'Revolutionary Bullshit' four times. These two were easier to remix than 'Evil Love' so I decided to do a bunch. I originally made this beat to use as an Ise Lyfe remix to 'Get Off the Corner' off his new album (I did 13 tracks on his new shit and I wanted one more, so I tried to out do the original but Ise felt my beat was dope but too "player" for the songs content). This shit is dope. Let me know which version of 'Revolutionary Bullshit' you like the most.
