MORE LEFTOVERS: THE 1ST "SELFISH" REMIX

DOWNLOAD :: SLUM VILLAGE - SELFISH (NICK JAMES REMIX PART I)

Here's yet another leftover from the Early Years.  I made this before the one that appears on the mixtape but felt that Part II meshed better with the tone of the album.

What the cover text says:
"I made this remix in 2005 after being inspired by the MF Doom & Madlib album, Madvillian.  I wanted to create a hip-hop jazz track.  I got an Ahmad Jamal sample and created this."

JUST COPPED VOL. 3

Posted: | | 0 comments

I've been spending too much money at Amoeba lately, at least $80 each time I go.  I think it's all worth it though.  Here is part 3 of a series that will never end.  The best "Just Copped" yet.

Here you go.  I figured I might as well let these go and hope they find a good home with somebody else.  This is the first time I have packaged instrumentals for the public.  I hope you enjoyed The Early Years.

MUSIC ANALYSIS :: THE BEAT MADE ME DO IT

Posted: Tuesday, November 17, 2009 | | Labels: , , 0 comments

I wasn't expecting to ever hear a mixtape like this let alone a mixtape by Freeway like this!  Any music lover must understand the precision of Jake One's sample selection.  It's phenomenal.  Freeway's rhymes are a bit rushed, you can tell by the subject matter.  Far too often he has to resort to guns and misogyny (he pretty much does that anyway) and it comes off as if he just wrote the rhyme before he spit'em.  The star though is Jake One and his genius to play samples with no beat was a great idea.  Check it out.

ILL-LITERACY :: iB4the1 IS HERE

Posted: | | Labels: , , 0 comments

I'm proud to present you all Ill-Literacy's first album, "iB4the1."  This is the first part of a three part album.  My favorite song is "Finding Emo."  Praise to these brothers for pushing the limits of consciousness and entertainment and doing it almost effortlessly.  Ill-Lit has been putting in all the necessary work in prepping and releasing an album and now, after the process is finished, they give the album away for free!  Since they have worked hard for us, let us please download and support.

Be on the lookout for the Nick James Remix of "Circus Lights."  It's the best remix I've ever done!

JUST COPPED VOL. 2

Posted: Monday, November 16, 2009 | | Labels: , 0 comments

On Friday I was feeling exhausted so I went to the record store.  Needless to say, it cured me.  Here is volume two of my vinyl buying chronicles.  Note that I didn't say diggin because I rarely dig anymore.  All of these purchases are brand new records.  Records that are brand new or newly pressed old records that helped shape my childhood.  Thus, it doesn't constitute diggin, you feel me?

THE EARLY YEARS

Posted: Monday, November 9, 2009 | | Labels: , , , , 0 comments

Nick James Presents...The Early Years, is a compilation of unreleased remixes and beats I have compiled over the past six years.  In the past I have remixed whole albums such as Jay-Z's, The Black Album, American Gangster, and an 18 track mixtape remixing various songs from 6 different Nas albums entitled, The Nas Remixes.  I've always remixed as a way to get better at sequencing and mixing music and in the process I have accumulated about 100 remixes.  Thus, I decided to create a download to provide a snapshot of unreleased music I've done over the years.  The beats on this album are free for anyone to loop and use as their own.

MOST INTERESTING EPISODE IN TV HISTORY

I loved "A Different World" but this episode was a stretch.  Though it is tight that there was a show that even contemplated the subject matter of the underground railroad, Freddie finding the underground railroad behind the wall in a the Hillman luandry room...highly unlikely.Share
